East Jakarta SDA Accelerates Pondok Ranggon Reservoir Dredging

East Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency continues dredging mud from Pondok Ranggon Reservoir, Pondok Ranggon Urban Village, Cipayung, Tuesday (10/13).

For speeding up the process, we add four more units, thus we have 8 heavy equipment in total

East Jakarta SDA Sub-agency Head, Santo conveyed, formerly his side has dredged the eastern side of the reservoir or Reservoir A which located near Sunter River by deploying 2 long arm excavators, 1 standard excavator, and 1 mini amphibious excavator.

"For speeding up the process, we add four more units, thus we have 8 heavy equipment in total," he added.

According to him, the additional standard heavy equipment were obtained as assistance from Bina Marga.

Those heavy equipment were deployed to accelerate dredging process in Reservoir A that will be used as the first layer that will hold water.

When Reservoir A is full, water will flow to Reservoir B, then Reservoir C which position is lower.

After that, water will be directed to Sunter River through existing outlets. Although dredging hasn't finished yet, but this reservoir is able to prevent flood in the downstream area.

When his side completed the dredging, reservoir can minimize flooding occurrence in downstream areas, such as in Cipinang Melayu, Pondok Bambu, Cipinang Indah, Lubang Buaya, Setu, and other areas.

"Hopefully, we can finish dredging this reservoir immediately thus it can minimize inundation and flooding in the surrounding area," he mentioned.
